HOLLYWOOD, CA — Looking for a way to escape from the searing days of August? Well, look no further and head over to Netflix land, as the popular streaming service has a refreshing new slate of offerings that are sure to tamp down the summer heat.
In the coming weeks, original movies dominate the streaming landscape, including the highly anticipated action-fantasy “Day Shift,” starring Jamie Foxx as a hard-working dad trying to provide a good life for his daughter. How? He spends his days as a professional vampire hunter and killer.
Care for a buddy comedy? There's “Me Time,” in which Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg play a pair of longtime best buds, who, after many years of being apart, reconnect for a fun-filled and raunchy weekend. Let the shenanigans begin! But are they worth it?

Those looking for an animated superhero adventure can check out “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie," based on Nickelodeon’s popular television series, starring Ben Schwartz, Omar Benson Miller, Brandon Mychal Smith and Josh Brenner, who lend their voices as a team of evil-fighting anthropomorphic turtle brothers. This time around, our superheroes will face Krang, the most dangerous alien force in the galaxy.
Netflix original TV offerings are also set to make a big splash in this month's binging lineup, including the long-awaited screen debut of “The Sandman,” a fantastical series adapted from the well-acclaimed Neil Gaiman comic books. In the first season, Dream (Tom Sturridge), the king and personification of all dreams, escapes from decades of imprisonment and returns to his realm to reclaim his kingdom.
