  1. Shoutout to Adam “Bushman” Orozco, an airbrush muralist by trade, who gets up early and paints out graffiti. Another shoutout to his sons, Thunder and Koa, for joining him. “Not even a recent major shoulder surgery can slow him down.” Just last Friday, he painted over graffiti behind the Arco station at Beach Boulevard and Adams Avenue. The team is prepared to match “brick, stone, slate, marble” and more. “If everybody did this, followed my lead, we wouldn’t have graffiti here,” Orozco says. (L.A. Times/paywall)
  2. Speaking of Adam “Bushman” Orozco, he was also on hand on New Year’s Eve when it came time to honor those who passed in 2021. The ceremony was held at Pier Plaza and honored “local friends, family, and those less fortunate.” Thirty people, including Mayor Barbara Delglieze, were in attendance. (HBN)
  3. Michael Gates is running for re-election as City Attorney and needs your donations. He announced Thursday that he started campaign fundraising. You can pay in a variety of ways, including credit cards and checks. Gates reminds residents that their checks cannot be greater than $620 per person. (Michael E. Gates)
  4. A 27-year-old man was arrested Friday after allegedly stabbing two people. The incident took place at a Centennial Skatepark near Edinger Avenue and Fairview Street earlier that week. One of the victims died. (Newsbreak)
  5. There’s a raw ground beef recall for anyone who bought the meat at an Albertsons, Kroger, Walmart or WinCo. The meat was produced on December 20 and came from Interstate Meat Dist. Inc. Samples tested positive for possible E. coli contamination. (USDA, 2)
