1. Huntington Beach partners in bringing high-speed internet to Catalina, coastal communities (latimes.com subscription) — Huntington Beach is set to host two subsea fiber-optic cable landing stations that will boost internet connectivity for selected neighborhoods, including Central Park and parts of southeast Huntington Beach. Funded partly by a $37 million state grant, the project also links Catalina Island and coastal Orange County, promising better reliability for residents, businesses, and emergency services across the region.
   

2. Felony charges are filed in fight (orangecountytribune.com) — Felony charges have been filed after a violent confrontation inside a Huntington Beach home on Edinger Avenue, where police faced a nearly six-hour standoff before the suspect surrendered. Prosecutors say 49-year-old Zachary Romanak now faces two felony counts and a misdemeanor, and remains in Orange County Jail on $20,000 bail.

4. Cecilia 'Paula' Pauline Loucks .... (lwweekly.com) — Huntington Beach readers are asked to remember Cecilia “Paula” Pauline Loucks, who spent much of her life in nearby coastal communities and is survived by her daughter living in Huntington Beach. The longtime real estate and assisted-living professional was known for her strong work ethic, love of gardening and animals, and later-life quilting achievements, including a ribbon-winning piece at the Orange County Fair.
