- The pedestrian bridge next to John H. Eader Elementary School is now closed until some time in 2023. The bridge crosses the Talbert Channel. The closure is part of the planned steel sheet pile installation. (Surf City Break)
- We learned Wednesday that the City is going to construct a pathway behind Huntington Lake this month. It consists of a 300-foot-long pathway that will connect to the Urban Forest, the Center Park Playground, and the Dog Park. Another construction project this month consists of the Central Park restrooms that should be completed at the end of February. (City Manager Report)
- On Friday, the City will say goodbye to the Rodgers Seniors’ Center and get ready to begin construction on a new public park. This green space will feature walking paths, picnic areas, and a community center. The event starts at 10 a.m. at 1706 Orange Avenue. (Surf City Break)
- Officials want you to exercise caution when eating food from street vendors. “All mobile food facilities are required to obtain a health permit to operate. Those with the proper permit must display it on their vehicle or cart.” Unlicensed vendors may expose customers to foodborne illnesses. “Anyone who believes they became ill from eating at an O.C. street vendor can call 714-433-6418.” (CBS)
- The OC United Way is “offering free tax preparation and electronic filing to low- and moderate-income individuals and families.” Insiders suggest that many low-income individuals miss out on refunds and credits. They say it could be “helping a person or family go from surviving to thriving.” (New Santa Ana)
