- Bartlett Park has undergone several improvements. The Public Works Department reported Friday that workers widened trails, graded pathways, and put up lodge pole fencing for public safety. Trails now also connect south to Adams Avenue. (@CityofHBPIO, cityofhb)
- On Tuesday, the HBPD caught some taggers in flagrante. Two suspects were spray-painting a wall near Beach and Utica. Officers “recovered a spray paint can, drugs & a loaded firearm from their vehicle.” (@HBPoliceDept)
- Back in 2020, the City invited bids for the Saybrook Sewer Lift Station project at the Saybrook Lane and Heil Avenue intersection to provide “demolition of an existing sewer lift station, and the installation of a new 750 gallon per minute submersible sewer lift station and force main.” The projected estimate was $3,700,000. The project is nearing completion and is expected to be done by late February. (Construction Bid Source, City Manager)
- In November, the City anticipated finishing the new Central Park Playground by the end of the month. After a few hiccups, the official opening and ribbon-cutting date will be Thursday. You find the new playground “next to Kathy Mays and Lake Huntington” in the park. (FB, City Manager)
- On Thursday, the Public Works Department announced that it “converted the last of the 10,000 streetlights that the City acquired from SCE in 2015.” Instead of illuminating streets with high-pressure sodium lights, they are now lighted with LEDs. This conversion saves energy, provides brighter lighting, and reduces the need for maintenance. (cityofhb)
