Imperial Beach UMC Gives Thanks for Giving on Thanksgiving

Denise Hilbert at Imperial Beach United Methodist Church said thank you to all the people who volunteered and donated food for the church to put on its annual Thanksgiving meal.

Instead of feeding 100 people, ample donations allowed the church to feed 150 people in need of food or who needed a place to go for the holiday.

Instead of about a dozen volunteers, near 50 people showed up to lend a hand, she said.

"Within the first hour the Fellowship Hall was packed," she said. "This was our biggest crowd yet in volunteers and people served."

The church's Loaves and Fishes program regularly feeds people in need.
