Imperial Beach Watch Spot for South Bay Power Plant Implosion

In its weekly newsletter Thursday, the City of Imperial Beach suggested that local residents interested in seeing the implosion of the South Bay Power Plant Saturday morning at 7 a.m. head to the city's northern edge and watch at the southern tip of San Diego Bay.

"Imperial Beach residents can have a terrific view of the historic implosion from the Bayshore Bikeway or Sellers/Keevers Outdoor Educational Activity Center on the Bikeway between 12th and 13th streets.

Avoid the traffic by bicycling or walking to Imperial Beach's north shore. Information about additional viewing areas outside of these Imperial Beach viewpoints are available at www.portofsandiego.org.

Imperial Beach residents may hear booming explosive noises early Saturday morning as a result of the planned implosion of the South Bay Power Plant in Chula Vista. Weather permitting, the obsolete and non-operational power plant will be destroyed by a planned implosion scheduled for 7 a.m., Saturday, February 2nd, 2013."
