Coast Guard, Mexican Boaters Rescue 2 From Sinking Craft
An helicopter and ship were sent to assist the two people aboard the sinking craft off the Coronado Islands on Tuesday morning.

Mexican boaters and the U.S. Coast Guard worked together Tuesday morning to rescue two U.S. citizens aboard a sinking personal watercraft 13 miles southwest of San Diego.
The Coast Guard said in a statement that its San Diego Joint Harbor Operation Center received a distress call at approximately 10:30 a.m. from the people aboard the watercraft near the Coronado Islands, Mexico.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and the Coast Guard Cutter Petrel were sent to assist the people aboard the sinking craft.

Nearby boaters responded quickly, the Coast Guard reported, taking the two people in distress aboard a 30-foot pleasure craft.
The Petrel arrived on scene and took the two U.S. citizens aboard the cutter.

Petrel's crew transported the people and towed the watercraft to Shelter Island in San Diego. The names of the two people were not immediately released.
