Imperial Beach Firefighters To Help Reunite Lost Pets With Owners
The Imperial Beach Fire-Rescue Department now has a microchip scanner at Station 39 and can help reunite stray pets with their families.

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA — Firefighters with the Imperial Beach Fire-Rescue Department now have a microchip scanner and can help reunite stray pets with their families, the San Diego Humane Society announced.
A total of 20 dogs and cats were microchipped for free by the Humane Society's staff and volunteers Wednesday at the fire department's Station 39 in Imperial Beach.
Earlier this summer, Humane Society staff and volunteers trained firefighters to use the scanner so that people who find stray pets — including dogs, cats, rabbits and tortoises — can bring them to Station 39, instead of going to a shelter or a veterinary office.
