Update: Power Outage Impacts 1,700 Imperial Beach Customers
Imperial Beach is one of three communities across San Diego experiencing power outages Thursday morning.
About 1,760 Imperial Beach homes and businesses lost power Thursday morning, according to a San Diego Gas & Electric outage website.
The power went out at 7:20 a.m., was restored to all but 250 customers by 8:15 a.m. and was fully restored by 9:50 a.m., according to spokeswoman Amber Albrecht.
Originally power was not expected to be restored until 4 p.m.
"A cause hasn't been determined but we expect equipment failure," Albrecht said.
The public utility company received an award for reliability Wednesday.
