More than 400 people will join Mayor Jim Janney, the Imperial Beach City Council and more than 40 elected officials from San Diego's South Bay and Mexico at a reception Thursday at Pier South Hotel.

Hosted by the South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC), the 9th Annual Elected Officials Reception will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. at 800 Seacoast Dr.

Members of the public were invited to attend but as of 4 p.m. Wednesday RSVPs will no longer be accepted since more than 400 people reserved a ticket and the meeting space is at "maximum capacity," said SCEDC spokeswoman Stacie Tharp.

The first official event at the hotel will include catering from the Cohn Restaurant Group and possible model room tours. Email scedc@southcountyedc.com to RSVP.

Cohn Restaurant Group's Sea 180 Coastal Tavern will run the ground floor restaurant, rooftop patio bar, serve room service and cater weddings and events in conference rooms when the hotel opens its doors.

Ken Irvine of Coronado and Jack Fisher of Imperial Beach will be the restaurant's main cooks.

Construction of Pier South Hotel is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 1, Pacifica Director of Planning Allison Rolfe told the Imperial Beach City Council at a Sept. 4 meeting.
