LC Engineering Club's Robot Scores Victory in Competition
Watch the La Cañada High School's robot achieve the ultimate climb at the Inland Empire Regional FIRST Competition.
La Cañada High School's Engineering Club built the only robot to obtain a 30- point climb at the Inland Empire Regional FIRST Robotics Competition.
Team 2429 achieved the Ultimate Ascent, which had robots shooting frisbees and climbing a 9-foot high pyramid, according to Steve Zimmerman, LCHS science teacher and club advisor. Early on, the club devised a strategy of end game and defense, climbing the pyramid and then dumping the high value frisbees on top. After 11 qualification rounds during the March 28 event, Team 2429 was the only team that achieved the Ultimate Ascent.
The team then traveled to Nevada for the Las Vegas regional FRC competition. Team 2429 had a perfect practice day, being the first team to climb the pyramid and dump a frisbee, but failed to advance to the second level.
