LCF Ranked in Top 10 of CA's Most Educated Cities

With as the town's big business, and a with the , it's perhaps no surprise that La Cañada is one of the top 10 most educated cities in California.

Using data from the California Department of Finance's Demographic Research Unit, the investigative reporting group California Watch has found that 70.7 percent of La Cañadans aged 25 and older have earned bachelor's degrees. The city ranks number seven out of the top 10 most educated cities in the state.

At the top of the list, which is "based on educational attainment data for residents ages 25 and older and includes only places with a population of 20,000 or more,'' is Palo Alto where 79.7 percent of adults hold bachelor's or higher degrees.

According to California Watch, 80.6 percent of Californians are at least high school graduates, three of 10 have a bachelor's degree or higher, and 10.9 percent have a graduate or professional degree. Statewide, for one in five residents, the highest level of education attained is a high school diploma or equivalent, the investigative group found.
