Los Altos offers creative new outlet for El Nido Youth
A holiday painting party provided youth a chance to unleash their inner artist
Los Altos Auxiliary delivered a new and innovative event for the youth at Sycamores’ El Nido campus offering painting as a way to improve brain health and support emotional growth.
Per Los Altos’ Board member Susie Zadravecz, “Studies have shown that painting stimulates the creative side of one’s mind while focusing the youth’s attention in one place, which can lower anxiety. Plus it is really fun!”
“The youth, and the staff, enjoyed painting their unique version of a snowman. Our artist, Cindy, guided our painters and then let them go on their own adding their own fun touches,” Susie continued.

We believe youngsters at a critical crisis point in their lives deserve the opportunity to experience a healthy and supportive environment to change the trajectory of their lives. We believe providing libraries, academic and art programs, sporting events, field trips, therapeutic workshops and special "family-like" activities and services is an important supplement to the mental health care and living skills assistance provided by El Nido's outstanding professional staff. We believe that by improving a child's mental, physical, and social health that child can become a healthy, positive member of our community.
