60+ Citations Issued In Traffic Operation Targeting Coastal Cities: LBPD
The Laguna Beach Police Department led its third scheduled multi-agency traffic enforcement operation of the year on Sunday.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A multi-agency traffic enforcement operation led by the Laguna Beach Police Department saw results on Sunday, Aug. 31, with this effort focused on speeding, loud and modified exhausted systems, and e-bike violations.
According to the department, the coordinated effort aimed to improve public safety and address ongoing quality-of-life concerns across Orange County's coastal communities.
Led by the LBPD, participating partners included the Costa Mesa Police Department, Newport Beach Police Department, Orange County Sheriff's Department, Tustin Police Department and the La Habra Police Department.

Officers stopped 124 vehicles during the operation, resulting in 184 violations, police said.

- Six citations issued for loud exhaust violations.
- Loudest recorded reading: 119 dBA.
- 56 citations for speed violations, including exceeding 65 miles per hour.
- Highest recorded speed: 97 miles per hour on Coast Highway in Newport Beach.
- Four drivers cited for driving unlicensed or with a suspended license.
- Two vehicles impounded as a result.
"Speed and loud exhaust violations continue to compromise the safety and quality of life of our residents," Laguna Beach Police Chief Jeff Calvert said. "As a result, we are left with no choice but to take a zero-tolerance approach to enforcement."
