Authorities Working To ID Body Of Man Found Near Laguna Beach

LAGUNA BEACH, CA -- The Orange County Sheriff's Dept. is investigating after the body of a man was found in brush off of Laguna Canyon Road.

After Laguna Beach Police responded around 6 p.m. Monday, June 10 to a call about a body in the area of Laguna Canyon Road and Woodland Drive, officers determined that the area was unincorporated land, and the Sheriff's Dept. was notified.

The body was already badly decomposed, according to responding Sheriff's deputies, thus leaving investigators unable to immediately determine the cause of death.

Coroner investigators are handling the ongoing death investigation, which includes determining the identity of the decedent and finding additional information surrounding the circumstances of his death, according to OCSD public information manager Carrie Braun.

The body is expected to be autopsied this week.
