Boys & Girls Club Teens Participate in “Sticker Shock”
The liquor store campaign is designed to discourage underage drinking.
Submitted by the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach:
With Prom just around the corner, several teens from the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach Keystone leadership club teamed up with the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-Orange County (NCADD-OC) to participate in Sticker Shock. The teens visited Broadway Liquor and Stop’n’Go in Laguna Beach, where store owners allowed them to place stickers on alcoholic beverages to discourage underage drinking.
The Sticker Shock program is a great awareness project to inform people about the laws surrounding underage drinking. Stickers are designed, developed and then placed on packages of alcohol indicating that it is illegal for adults to purchase alcohol for minors. These stickers can also be placed on the doors and windows of the alcohol displays.

Sixteen-year-old Club Member Harmony Lynn said it was important for her to provide awareness as we move into prom season. “If doing sticker shock will at keep at least one more teen safe during prom, then that’s worth it!”
