City Planning Commission OKs New Sourdough Bakery In Downtown Laguna
Laguna Beach Planning Commissioners approved a Conditional Use Permit for the proposed specialty bakery on Sept. 21.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A specialty bakery will soon take up an empty storefront in Downtown Laguna Beach, after the city's Planning Commission voted to approve a Conditional Use Permit for the sale and service of beer and wine at the proposed bakery during a meeting on Sept. 21.
The Conditional Use Permit was granted for the proposed bakery, Rye Goods, at 384 Forest Ave., within the Lumberyard Mall in Downtown Laguna. Planning Commission members approved the permit after a 3-0 vote, with Chair Pro Tem Ken Sadler and Commissioner Steve Goldman absent.
The 1,100 square-foot space is projected to house Rye Goods, an organic sourdough bakery and deli working in collaboration with small farm West Coast heritage grains to make sourdough breads and pastries, according to a city staff report.
