LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Be aware, Laguna Beach: a strong winter storm is on its way to town, just in time for Christmas.

The rains are expected to span Tuesday, Dec. 23 through Sunday, Dec. 28.

According to the Laguna Beach Fire Department, residents can expect intermittent periods of heavy rain and potential flooding in low-lying areas, especially near the coast.

Downtown Laguna Beach business owners and residents were urged to install their floodgates before Tuesday night as a precautionary measure to protect against the rains.

Laguna Beach residents can pick up empty sandbags at all four Laguna Beach fire stations, or 10 pre-filled sandbags at 1900 Laguna Canyon Road and 31132 S. Coast Highway.
