City To Talk Funding Lifeguards For Three Arch Bay Beach Tuesday

City Councilmembers will decide whether or not to enter into an agreement with the Three Arch Bay Association during Tuesday's meeting.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach City Councilmembers will decide whether or not to enter into an agreement with the Three Arch Bay Association at Tuesday's City Council meeting.

According to a city staff report, if the agreement is approved, the City of Laguna Beach would provide additional ocean lifeguard personnel services and equipment to Three Arch Bay Beach through the summer months, on Memorial Day and during spring break.

In return, the city would be paid an annual service fee of $134,000 from the Three Arch Bay Association, plus a one-time payment of $46,500 for startup costs.

The one-time payment made by the association is intended to cover 50 percent of the cost to buy a new Marine Safety vehicle as well as new medical equipment for the Three Arch Bay Beach lifeguards.

While there is no predicted impact on the city's general fund, the city may opt to request $44,500 from the Vehicle Replacement Fund for the city's portion of the new marine safety vehicle, the city said.
