Comedor Restaurant In Laguna Beach Adds Happy Hour Deals To Menu
The recently opened, tapas-centric eatery, from Chef Marcel Vigneron, is at the historic La Casa del Camino hotel on South Coast Highway.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Comedor, the recently opened restaurant at Laguna Beach’s historic La Casa del Camino hotel, is luring "happy hour" fans with its new, Monday-to-Thursday menu, offering half-off tapas, margaritas and sangria.
The weekday specials run 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Spanish-flair eatery, which opened in May at the former K'ya Bistro site at the South Coast Highway hotel. Patrons also can stick around on Thursday evenings for live music from local Orange County bands.
“As with the hotel itself, we wanted the menu at Comedor to reflect Southern California’s rich and cultured history, as well as its vibrant present,” said Chef Marcel Vigneron.

Comedor's tapas-focused menu is helmed by celeb-chef Vigneron, a TV cooking star, who has appeared on Food Network’s “The Next Iron Chef,” “Iron Chef,” “Food Fighters,” “America's Best Cooks,” "Cutthroat Kitchen: Superstar Sabotage” and “Chopped: Celebrity Chef Charity Edition,” along with involvement in Wolf and Tacos Lobos restaurants and finishing as runner-up on Bravo Season 2 “Top Chef.”
Comedor features a cozy dining room and patio seating at the Spanish revival-style, landmark La Casa del Camino, heralded since 1929 as the "place-to-be.". (History buffs: Check in here for the hotel's story.)

Among Comedor's happy hour, tapa offerings: Charred Spanish Octopus with Squid Ink Romesco; Papas Arrugadas; and Croquettes.
Vigneron’s menu creations also include: Carrot Fritters with Tamarind Yogurt Sauce: and such main dishes as Rossejat de Fideos, a Paella-style vermicelli with lobster, shrimp and calamari.
Show-stopper cocktails, curated by mixologist Devon Espinosa, include: "The Smoking Musket" (Rye, Beckrovka, Doiln Blanc, Green Apple) ; and the "Chai Old Fashioned" (with Laird’s Apple Jack, Rittenhouse Rye, Chai Syrup and garnished with flamed orange peel.)
Comedor's dessert options include a fresh Pear Tart and the Molten Chocolate Cake, served with vanilla ice cream and sesame streusel.
