Dana Point Premiers Film Celebrating California Coastal Act

Learn how Californians passed the California Coastal Act in 1972.

The California Coastal Commission was created through a proposition passed in 1972. Over 40 years later, a new documentary from the Surfrider Foundation celebrating the CCC will premier in Dana Point.

On Oct. 15 at 7 p.m., the Ocean Institute, 24200 Dana Point Harbor Drive, will screen "Heroes of the Coast." Tickets are $15 and come with dessert.

The movie takes a look at Proposition 20, which voters approved, instituting the California Coastal Act, and with it, the CCC state agency that makes decisions on state land use near the coast.

A limited amount of student group tickets for $5 each are available by reservation to denisedd@cox.net prior to the event. Other tickets can be purchased here.
