Entries Sought for $5K Art Grant

Applications are now being accepted for a $5,000 grant being offered to Laguna Beach-based artists, the Laguna Beach Alliance for the Arts announced.

The $5,000 [seven degrees of] of Inspiration Grant will be presented during next year's 8th annual Art Star Awards in April 2014, which honors the best of Laguna Beach's artistic community. The deadline to apply for the grant is Feb. 7, 2014 and was created to give support for an "emerging or established" Laguna Beach artist to develop an innovative arts program or project to advance the city as progressive in the arts, LBaa officials said.

“This was a perfect opportunity for [seven-degrees] to tangibly demonstrate our commitment to artistic forward thinking and invention, and it is our pleasure to partner with LBaa by funding this grant” Dora Wexell, executive director of [seven-degrees], said in a released statment.

Three finalists will be chosen from applicants and the winner will be announced at the Art Star Awards on Sunday, April 6, 2014. The $5,000 grant winner will have 11 months to complete their project, and the body of work will premiere at the 2015 Art Star Awards.
