Submitted story by Kristine Michaels:
Despite the loss to Edison in tie breaker on Wednesday, the Breakers maintain a positive outlook.
A couple of injuries and illness took a toll on the Breakers on Wednesday forcing two defaults and an early exit by key players.

#1 Singles Brooke Michaels fell in the first game of the second set due to an ankle sprain forcing a default of that set with a score of 0-6.
#2 singles Kira Hamilton had to exit the match early after her second set due to the flu. Finally #3 doubles player Stephanie Tat fell to severe cramping of her calve muscle forcing her team to default their close third match at a score of 3-5.

With all of that bad luck, the Breakers depth was tested. Sophomore Madeline Loomis stepped in at #1 Singles and won her set with a score of 6-4. Breakers Doubles pulled through for the team with each line playing extremely strong and winning an overall 6 out of 9 sets. #1 Doubles Ashley Shelton and Dominique Willette played extremely strong with the only sweep of the day.
For their first time playing together, Shelton and Willette proved to be a solid team winning their three sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-3. #2 Doubles Chloe Mansour and Katelyn Bo played solid winning two of their three sets dominantly with a score of 6-1, 6-2 and at #3 doubles, Stephanie Tat and freshman Natasha Keces won one of their three sets 6-4.
Tat/Keces were forced to default their third set when Tat cramped in a very competitive set and could not continue at 3-5.
The match wrapped up with #3 Singles Bailey Jaeger battling for the Breakers as the last match on court with the Breakers at 9 and Edison 8. Jaeger did a fantastic job fighting with every ounce of energy she had. It was an exciting set as the Chargers #1 Singles Libby Jubas forced Jaeger to give it all she had.
Jaeger fought from behind and refused to give Lubas any free points. When all was said and done, the score finished exactly the same as the final score last season, a tie score. This season, Edison took the victory in tie breaker 78 games to LBHS 73.
Considering the bad luck the breakers experiences with a few key players, they were pleased with the success of the overall team.
The Breakers were back on the home court the next day against Mission Viejo winning 13-5. With #1 Singles Brooke Michaels out of commission due to the ankle injury she suffered during the Edison match, Coach Don was able to test the Breaker lineup once again.
Senior Dominique Willette proved again to play solidly in doubles with yet another new doubles partner. #1 Doubles team of Dominique Willitte and Chloe Mansour completed Willettes second sweep in one week with final scores of 6-3, 6-2, 6-3. Doubles played solid over all winning 7 of their 9 sets.
#2 Doubles Katelyn Bo and Natasha Keces and # 3 Doubles Olivia Morrison and Madeline Loomis both won two of their three sets 6-2, 6-3 and 7-6, 6-4 respectively.
In singles, Sophomore Bailey Jaeger playing at #2 Singles took the only sweep in singles 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 and # 1 Singles Kira Hamilton won two of her three sets 6-3, 6-1. Singles pulled off 5 of their 9 sets.
Coach Don Davis noted that he was extremely proud of his Breakers for playing extremely tough and battling to win the close matches. After the first two weeks of match play, the Breakers are playing strong and competitively coming out on top of most of the tie breakers or tight sets they play.
Davis believes that the current level of competition and competitive play is the best preparation for the Breakers post season.
Breakers finish with an overall record of 3-1 after the first two weeks of season play.
