New Overhead Pedestrian Crossing Lights Being Installed in Laguna Beach
The two Coast Highway lights are designed to make it safer for pedestrians to cross the busy street.
The often-dangerous task of walking across Coast Highway is getting a little safer.
Caltrans is installing two overhead pedestrian crossing lights on the infamously busy, congested thoroughfare.
The first, at Jasmine Street north of downtown, is being installed this week.

The second, farther south at Oak Street, will be installed early next week, according to the city.
Both are expected to be operational by the end of March.

Previously at both intersections, there were in-road flashing lights to indicate pedestrians were crossing the street.
