New Sidewalks in Laguna Canyon; City Hall Art Show Registration Open

Complete Streets Sidewalk Construction on Laguna Canyon Frontage Road - On Wednesday, February 27, the Planning Commission approved Design Review for a City project to construct 150 feet of sidewalk along Laguna Canyon Frontage Road adjacent to Woodland Drive. This sidewalk will close a gap between existing sidewalk on Laguna Canyon Frontage Road and Woodland Drive. Construction of the sidewalk is planned to be completed before next summer.

Patriots Day Parade - The 47th Patriot’s Day Parade will start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The route will start at Laguna Beach High School, travel down Park Avenue to Glenneyre Street, through downtown on Forest Avenue and end on Ocean Avenue. The parade is anticipated to end at 1:30 p.m. Click here for all the info you need.

LA Plastic Bag Litigation - Last week, the Court of Appeal ruled in a published decision to uphold a Los Angeles County ordinance prohibiting plastic bags in retail stores and requiring a 10 cent charge for paper bags.  The court concluded that the bag charge is not a tax because the charge is payable to the retail store and not remitted to the County. 

Art That’s Small at City Hall - The Arts Commission is currently accepting pre-registration for the 12th annual “Art That’s Small at City Hall” exhibition. The competition is open to artists residing in Orange County. Entries must be 12” or smaller, including the frame. Pre-registration will be accepted through March 12, 2013. Artist may also register on delivery day between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on March 16, 2013. Only one entry will be accepted by each artist with a fee of $15.
