Banner Competition - The Arts Commission received 13 submissions to the competition and selected four designs. Artist Al Esquerra, Vickie Killeen, Patrick Moran and Michael Ravetti, will paint their original designs on canvas banners measuring 4’ by 16’ which will go on display at Main Beach during the summer months. This program is funded by the lodging establishments and City of Laguna Beach.
Temporary Sculpture Program - At its meeting on Monday, the Arts Commission selected a design by Michael Graham for installation on the exterior of the red telephone booth on Forest Avenue. The design, which requires City Council approval, will go on display for two years. This program has been funded by the lodging establishments and City of Laguna Beach.

Art That’s Small at City Hall - On Thursday, April 4, 2013, Mayor Kelly Boyd will announce the winners of the exhibition. An award ceremony and artist reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at City Hall, 505 Forest Avenue. The winners were selected by a jurying panel consisting of JoAnne Artman, JoAnne Artman Gallery; Jonathan Burke, President, Laguna College of Art & Design; and Pat Sparkuhl, Exhibits Manager at the Festival of Arts. The first place winner will receive $500. This program has been funded by the lodging establishments and City of Laguna Beach.
City Youth Track Meet - Under beautiful evening skies, the City of Laguna Beach Youth Track Meet was held Friday, March 22. Approximately 60 local youth between the ages of 4 and 14 competed in track and field events at Laguna Beach High School. The top four boys and girls in each age division qualified to represent the City at the County of Orange Track Meet in May.

Tennis and Basketball Court Maintenance - The two tennis courts and two basketball courts at Moulton Meadows Park will be closed to the public next week (Monday, April 1 – Sunday, April 7) for resurfacing. Additionally, the tennis court windscreens at Alta Laguna Park will be removed and replaced, necessitating periodic closures next week during installation. Specific closure dates and times will be posted at each site.
