Saturday's Farmers Market to Include Fire Safety
This weekend mark's the 20th anniversary of the 1993 Laguna Beach fire. On Saturday fire officials will be at the Farmers Market to talk to residents about preparing for a wildland fire.
As the city reflects on the 20th anniversary of the 1993 Laguna Beach fire, officials will talk to community members this weekend to help them prepare for a future wildland fire.
Members of the Laguna Beach Fire Department and the Orange County Fire Authority will be at the Farmers Market Saturday to talk to residents about how to prepare their homes, and themselves, in order to survive a future wildland fire.
Nearly 400 homes were burned on Oct. 27, 1993 when a widlland fire ripped through Laguna Beach and Emerald Bay. The fire is still listed as one of the top 10 most expensive wildland fires in the United States, according to city officials.
The Farmers Market is located at the Lumberyard Parking Lot next to the City Hall, from 8 a.m. to noon.
