Amazing New Bus Bench in Heisler Park Will Be Dedicated Saturday

It's the latest public collaboration from Laguna Beach artists Larry Gill and Gavin Heath.

Laguna Beach metal sculptor Larry Gill and glassblower Gavin Heath have done it again.

Their cast glass and stainless steel bus bench was installed in February at Heisler Park. Titled "Tide Pool Paddleboard," it sits at the point where Cliff Dr. meets Jasmine St., and, like the name implies, it looks like a stand-up paddleboard, with Heath's gorgeously colored glasswork blown to resemble a sort of abstract interpretation of the real tidepools just below the park cliffs. One suggestion ... try to avoid sitting on it with sharp objects in your back pocket.

The pair have collaborated on several other bench projects around the city.
