South OC City Named Safest Among Coastal Cities: DoJ
An Orange County town was named the safest among coastal cities in terms of violent crime in 2024.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — An Orange County town was named the safest among Orange County coastal cities in terms of violent crime in 2024, according to the California Department of Justice.
With a rough population of 22,000 residents, Laguna Beach reported 37 violent crimes and 210 property crimes in 2024, according to a news release from the Laguna Beach Police Department.
The release also specified that the coastal enclave, which welcomes more than six million visitors a year, also ranked the second lowest in property crime — just behind Dana Point.

"Our department's mission is clear: To be the safest coastal community in Orange County through exceptional policing and community engagement," Laguna Beach Police Chief Jeff Calvert said.
