Photos: Angels' Mike Trout Wows the Kids at Three Laguna Beach Schools

The 2012 American League Rookie of the Year told students to study hard.

2012 baseball rookie sensation Mike Trout of Your Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim spent some time last Thursday morning giving words of encouragement and inspiration to students at three Laguna Beach public schools.

"He focused on setting goals and getting good grades," said Elaine Brashier, parent coordinator for Thurston Middle School, one of Trout's three stops that also included El Morro Elementary and Top of the World Elementary. "His parents were both teachers, and he told the kids that school is important."

This was the third straight year that an Angels player popped into Laguna Beach to talk to the kids. Last year, it was Torii Hunter, who's since moved on to play for the Detroit Tigers.

Aside from the obvious wow factor, Trout's presence was also meant to drum up support and ticket sales for the annual Laguna Beach Family Night fundraising ballgame at Angel Stadium, which this year will be May 3 against the Baltimore Orioles. A portion from each ticket purchased will benefit Laguna Beach public schools, and it'll be a very Laguna Beach evening, with the Honors Chorus singing the National Anthem, and Laguna Beach High's Haley Castuera leading the 7th inning stretch with "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."
