DANA POINT, CA — Doheny State Beach has reverted its lifeguard tower numbers to its previous designations following an outcry from residents and beachgoers, the Orange County Register reported.

The numbers were changed earlier in the year as a way to avoid duplicate numbering with neighboring agencies, California State Parks officials told the Register.

However, locals with strong associations with the old tower numbers lobbied state officials to revert to the old system.

One local, Debbie Simons, told the Register she's part of a group that calls themselves the "Tower 12 Crew" because of their strong attachment to that specific lifeguard tower.
