Manhunt Ends With Arrest Of Police Assault Suspect In South OC

A 35-year-old man suspected of stabbing an Orange County Sheriff's deputy in the neck was arrested Wednesday.

SAN ONOFRE, CA — A 35-year-old man suspected of stabbing an Orange County Sheriff's deputy in San Clemente was arrested Wednesday after a daylong manhunt.

Moses Paulisin was arrested at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at San Onofre State Beach by state parks rangers, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Paulisin was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, resisting arrest and assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said.

The deputy was treated for a neck wound and released from a hospital Tuesday night and was expected to fully recover, Braun said.

The deputy, on patrol with a partner conducting homeless outreach, was assaulted about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Avenida Pico and Calle de Los Molinos, according to Braun.
