DANA POINT, CA — Orange County Sheriff's deputies sought the public's help in finding a hit-and-run driver who left a pedestrian fighting for his life.

The crash was reported at around 10 p.m. Friday at La Cresta Drive and Silver Lantern Street in Dana Point, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was rushed to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition as of Monday night. He was identified by authorities as a man in his 40s.

Authorities released an image of the suspect vehicle that was captured near the crash site by a surveillance camera. It was described as a silver or beige car with damage to the rear passenger side.
