LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — The polls are now closed in Laguna Niguel. From Laguna Niguel City Hall to the White House, Tuesday’s election is crucial. Voters have marked their ballots for their chosen leaders, on tax measures, and proposals that will shape California for generations to come.

Now that everyone's cast their votes, the question is: So who won? What passed or failed? Votes will continue to be counted throughout the hours and days that follow the election.

In Laguna Niguel, three seats were open for city council.

As of 10:30 p.m., incumbent Sandy Rains was in the lead with 19.6 percent of the vote. Kelly Jennings and Rischi Paul Sharma were tied at 18 percent, followed by Stephanie Oddo, Shani Moslehi, Sherry Astrella, John Dhaliwal and Michal Harvey Fair.
