Mystique Dining, A Restaurant With Magicians, To Open In La Jolla
The La Jolla Village branch will be the fifth in a chain that began in 1997 and features butlers as waiters.

LA JOLLA, CA — Mystique Dining, a restaurant chain featuring magic shows and butlers as waiters, will open a 30-seat branch in La Jolla next month.
The eatery at La Jolla Village will take bookings after Oct. 5 for American entrees such as prime rib and macaroni and cheese served by butlers and hostesses. There’s also “roasted raven,” the menu moniker for quail.
Magicians from entertainment hot spots such as Las Vegas will do 45-minute magic shows.

Restaurant chain owner Terry Commons came up with the Mystique Dining idea in Idaho in 1997 and founded the business that year.
Today the chain runs two restaurants in West Jordan, Utah, today’s headquarters, and one in Folsom, Calif. The management picks sites with such as old towns and other unique business districts, marketing director Whitney Foote told Patch.

Tickets cost $125 to $150 for the “Grand Dining Chamber experience” in the 30-seat La Jolla restaurant, Foote said. Dinners are served by “experienced butlers and hostesses.” It will offer one or two magic shows a night, Foote said.
The La Jolla restaurant is due to open Oct. 5.
