Boy In Critical Condition, RivCo Deputies Seek Hit-And-Run Driver

Deputies are looking for the driver of a dark-colored full-size pick-up truck in connection with the hit-and-run.

PERRIS, CA — The driver of a dark-colored full-size pick-up truck was sought Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run in Perris that left a child in critical condition, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced.

The hit-and-run was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of West 3rd Street and South C Street, according to the department. When deputies arrived they found they found the juvenile in the street with serious injuries.

The truck driver crashed into a parked vehicle a short distance away, tried to flee the wreck, and hit the juvenile during the escape, witnesses told deputies.

The boy was sent to a local hospital in critical condition. An update on his condition was unavailable Thursday afternoon.
