Felon Arrested For Possessing Firearm In Perris

PERRIS, CA — A 27-year-old probationer was arrested for possessing a loaded gun in Perris, sheriff's officials said Sunday.

Deputies conducted a probation search of Mark Trammel's home after he was pulled over around 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Jarvis Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

It's unclear what prompted the search, but deputies found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun in Trammel's bedroom, sheriff's officials said.

Trammel was on probation for a previous firearm conviction.

He was arrested and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition, being in possession of an unregistered firearm and violating the terms of his probation.

Trammel was released from jail Sunday after posting $50,000 bail.
