Fire Doused In Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A fire that erupted Wednesday just west of Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore scorched roughly an acre before firefighters got it under control.

The non-injury blaze was reported at about 1:20 p.m. in the 18100 block of Collier Avenue, near Riverside Drive, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a slow rate in thick vegetation surrounding a canal.

No homes or other structures were threatened.

Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, which was declared under control at 2:15 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
