Fire Engulfs Home Along Ortega Highway, West Of Lake Elsinore

"Strong efforts by firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to nearby vegetation and adjacent structures," authorities said.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A fire engulfed a double-wide mobile home Tuesday night along the Ortega Highway west of Lake Elsinore city limits, but crews were able to knock it down before flames spread through the Cleveland National Forest, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The blaze was reported at 9:21 p.m. in the 34100 block of state Route 74/Ortega Highway.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the mobile home "fully involved with fire," according to the fire department.

Due to the blaze's size and its proximity to vast open space, two additional engines were requested, the agency reported.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., the blaze was knocked down.

"Strong efforts by firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to nearby vegetation and adjacent structures," according to the fire department.

One civilian was evaluated at the scene but refused medical treatment, the agency said.

Crews remained on scene for several hours for mop-up and overhaul.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
