Deputies determined Beman was stopped at a stop sign on westbound Whispering Wood Lane preparing to turn south onto Evans Road. As she proceeded to make the turn, a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder traveling north on Evans Road failed to stop at the stop sign and the two vehicles crashed, the sheriff's department reported.

The abandoned Nissan was found north of the scene along Evans Road. The vehicle had major front-end damage.
