IE Man Fatally Struck In Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium Parking Lot

Emergency responders arrived at Storm Stadium to tend to the ailing man, struck near Diamond Drive and Malaga Road.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A 58-year-old man was fatally struck while walking through the Lake Elsinore stadium parking lot Sunday, authorities say.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department Coroner's Bureau identified Michael Ryan of Crestline as the victim of the fatal incident. His name was released following notification of his next of kin.

"Ryan was hit by a motorist traveling through the space at an unconfirmed speed. The driver, whose identity was not disclosed, immediately stopped and waited for deputies while witnesses called 911," according to Sgt. Brad Foster.

Paramedics arrived within minutes and took the victim to Inland Valley Medical in Wildomar, where he received emergency treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries roughly six hours later, according to coroner's officials. The coroner's report specified the victim was killed in a stadium parking lot.

Deputies questioned the driver but did not arrest him.

Sheriff's officials said alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the fatality. There was no event listed for Sunday at the stadium. It was unclear why the victim and motorist were there.
