Lake Elsinore Bicyclist Killed

The bicyclist was riding along Mission Trail and Malaga when he was struck by a truck.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA -- A Lake Elsinore bicyclist died recently after he was struck by a Toyota Tacoma while riding along Mission Trail and Malaga. Police said the incident happened around 1:35 p.m. Dec. 29.

The truck was traveling southbound when he struck the bicyclist, who was traveling westbound, at the intersection, police said.

The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital for treatment of multiple traumatic injuries. The driver of the Tacoma was uninjured, police said.

The bicyclist, a 70-year-old Lake Elsinore man, died from his injuries on Jan. 3.

The Traffic Reconstruction Team of the Lake Elsinore Police Department is conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the collision.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a contributing factor to the collision.
