Mother Suspected Of Killing 2-Year-Old Son In Riverside County: Cops

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A 31-year-old woman suspected of killing her toddler son in their Eastvale home was being held without bail Friday.

Xiu Xiu Sun was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside Thursday night on suspicion of murder.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, patrol deputies were called to the suspect's and her husband's residence in the 6000 block of Rosewood Way, just west of Scholar Way, about 7 p.m. Thursday to investigate reports of an injured child.

Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Brosche said that deputies arrived to find paramedics trying to resuscitate the 2-year-old victim, Chris Cui.

"After lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, the juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene," Brosche said. "During the course of the investigation, foul play was suspected surrounding the juvenile's death."

He said Central Homicide Unit detectives took over the investigation, questioning both Sun and her husband, whose identity was not released.

Sun was taken into custody without incident at the sheriff's Jurupa Valley station, and her spouse was allowed to leave without suspicion of involvement in the toddler's death, according to sergeant.
