Mountain Biker Injured In Cleveland National Forest

The "man down" was reported in the area of Skyline Drive and Skinsuit Trail, south of Corona.

CORONA, CA — A mountain biker was injured Tuesday while riding on a trail south of Corona, requiring firefighters to mount a rescue operation to find him in the Cleveland National Forest.

The "man down" was reported about 12:30 p.m. in the area of Skyline Drive and Skinsuit Trail, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that crews from the county and Corona Fire Department were sent to the area to initiate a rescue, with the aid of a sheriff's helicopter crew.

Firefighters established a staging area on the perimeter of the forest and requested that the helicopter crew look for the victim to better direct them to his location, or initiate a hoist rescue.

As of 1:30 p.m., the operation was still underway, with no word on the victim's status.
