Person Apparently Shot Found On Perris Street

What first appeared to be a hit-and-run crash with a pedestrian victim turned out to be a possible shooting in Perris.

PERRIS, CA — What first appeared to be a hit-and-run crash with a pedestrian victim turned out to be a possible shooting in Perris, authorities said Saturday.

An apparent hit-and-run was reported at 7:25 p.m. Friday at Brown and Martin streets, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses told the CHP a dark Nissan pickup truck had struck the pedestrian and left the scene.

The victim was described as unresponsive but breathing, the CHP said.

When Riverside County firefighters arrived, they told the CHP the victim possibly had two gunshots in their upper body. The age and gender of the victim was not disclosed.

The victim's condition was not available.

The area was closed to traffic for an investigation and appeared to have been reopened just before 1 a.m.
