Police Activity Near I-15 In Lake Elsinore Area Prompts Advisory

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Two people are in custody related to a stolen-vehicle investigation on Thursday, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reports. Their apprehension comes after someone spotted an "occupied stolen vehicle" around noon.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Deputy Robyn Flores tell Patch the vehicle was first seen near Lake Street and Interstate 15. When authorities tried to contact those inside, they took off running, prompting the sheriff's department to ask people to "[a]void area as deputies search for and apprehend possible suspect(s)."

By 2:30 p.m., though, sheriff's officials said two people were in custody, but officials still urged caution while law enforcement personnel was in the area.

"[The suspects] were located after a short search within proximity to the stolen vehicle," Flores said. "The investigation is still ongoing at this time."

The sheriff's department did not immediately have additional details related to the case, nor release the names of the suspects.
