Racially Charged Assault On Woman: RivCo Deputies Seek Driver

NORCO, CA — The Riverside County Sheriff's Department was seeking information about a man who allegedly uttered racial slurs at a woman and tried to run her down.

The incident was reported just before 6 p.m. Friday in a Norco parking lot in the 3100 block of Hamner Avenue.

According to the sheriff's department, a white man driving a silver older-model four-door vehicle used racial slurs toward the victim and her family. The woman got out of her vehicle to confront the man and the verbal attack continued from him and he threatened to assault her, according to the agency.

He then hit her with his car, causing non-life-threatening injuries to her lower legs, the sheriff's department reported.

The woman's husband was in the family car and he got out to defend his wife, and a fight between the men ensued, according to the agency.

The suspect was able to get away in his car, which was last seen driving on Hamner Avenue.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics.
