​Riverside Freeway Crash Prompts Closure On I-215, Shooting Reported

According to the CHP incident log, a reporting party said they heard a crash followed by three to six shots.

RIVERSIDE, CA — Two people were injured Saturday in a freeway crash in Riverside where a shooting was also reported, according to witnesses and a California Highway Patrol incident report.

The crash was reported around 1:55 a.m. Saturday on southbound Interstate 215 near the University Avenue exit. According to the CHP incident log, a reporting party said they heard a crash followed by three to six shots.

A grey sedan was listed as having rear-end crash damage and being occupied by a passenger who had a bloody sweatshirt. It was not clear how many vehicles and people were involved.

Dispatchers from the CHP were unable to confirm details of the crash or a possible shooting.
