According to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol, a large dog — a shepherd or husky — was running in lanes. A motorist tried to brake but didn't have enough time, which triggered a multi-vehicle crash.
It's not clear whether the dog was hit though it did not appear that animal control was summoned to the scene. At least one ambulance was requested, but Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department confirmed there were no motorist injuries.
